The Edge Family - Sweet & Simple Maternity Session

There are moments in my journey that stop me in my tracks — little reminders of why I love what I get to do. It’s not just about taking photos; it’s about preserving the chapters of people’s stories. The ones that happen quietly, in between the big milestones.
Every now and then, a simple post on social media turns into a whirlwind of beautiful chaos.

Last weekend, I put out a casual model call looking for a few expecting mums for a creative maternity session — and before I knew it, Ann & Adam cropped up in the comments.
I’ve photographed this family so much throughout my journey as a photographer — their wedding, their kids, even their highland cattle! — but I had absolutely no idea Anne was pregnant. And not just a little bit pregnant… she was due in two days.
I messaged her immediately, I told her I was coming out the very next day and I raced straight out to their family cattle farm before this family of four officially became five.
Their property is a little slice of countryside heaven dotted with the cutest highland cattle you've ever seen in your life — though I’ll admit, I’ve been there enough times now that I should know the way and yet somehow, I always manage to get lost at least once. I blame Google maps without an ounce of shame.
What began as a sunny drive through the countryside quickly turned quite threatening in true Warrnambool fashion, but we had just enough time to squeeze in the sweetest little maternity session where the kids completely stole the show! I mean, when you're that photogenic, it's a crime not to be centre stage. I have no doubt baby number 3 will fit right in!
Anne, despite wearing the prettiest spring dress and probably absolutely freezing, was as calm and grounded as she always is. There's something to be said about farm life, Maddi and James are living their best lives being raised by such wonderful parents on the most beautiful slice of heaven. No doubt they will look back on their childhood and remember such amazing times.
I also got to pat a baby highland calf so my week was officially made.
It's now Ann’s baby-eve, and I’ll be refreshing my messages for the most exciting update tomorrow. I can already picture the newest little face running around on the farm with his or her crew in tow.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “I’d love to capture my bump, but life is chaos right now,” — I get it. A maternity session doesn’t have to be a big production. I offer relaxed 30-minute sessions that fit easily into real life — no need to coordinate your whole world, just show up as you are and we’ll capture the magic before everything changes.
At the end of the day, it’s not about perfect timing — it’s about remembering how it all felt. The perfect timing is and will always be now.
